9 Cleaning Tips For A Busy Mom

Mama is back with more tips on keeping a cleaning house when you don’t like to clean. But if you are looking for a perfectly cleaned and styled house, keep moving, close the screen, this is not that house. This is the house that we bake in, do crafts, paint, learn, read and make A LOT of messes in. But my anxiety is really triggered with a mess, so I have to find a balance.

For me its about not wanting to spend the time doing it, you know? Like an entire Saturday cleaning is just not my idea of fun, so I have a few tricks up my sleeve that keep me on track. Like todays reel, that shares the under the bathroom sink caddy!

  1. Bathroom Cleaning Caddy or any kind of cleaning caddy/organizing all of the cleaning supplies you use for a room. My bathroom one includes a magic eraser, glass & surface cleaner, toilet cleaner, extra microfiber rags, essential oil of choice and anti bacterial wipes! I also usually keep plastic store bags I can reuse to gather trash. Now the key is to clean whatever you have time for, kid in the tub means I wipe down the mirrors and toilet, little extra time and I skirt in some cleaner in the sinks and toilet bowl.

  2. Mini dustpan, non toxic cleaner, cleaning rag in a spot where your kiddos can find and help clean up!

  3. Dawn Powerwash is the best no work, cleaner/degreaser. You spray and let sit, then wipe. It works on your stove, oven, casserole dishes, baking sheets, you name it. Spray, let sit and wipe away!

  4. Dishwasher Pods! Hot water, a pod in a caked on pan and let it sit over night! You will never forget me after this saves you from scrubbing.

  5. A few more of those pods will clean your jet tub, filled about half way with hot water and let it run for 10 minutes. This will clean your jets, degrease your tub and then you can drain the water, and then wipe it down for a (zero work) sparkly tub.

  6. Want that good clean smell all the time? Few drops of your favorite essential oil on cotton balls in all of your trash barrels will do the trick.

  7. Reset! I don’t believe in cleaning all in one day, it does not bring me joy. So instead I clean as I go, and resetting a space a few times a day while we are at home ALL day is the only way I stay sane. Since we homeschool, eat, entertain small humans and work in the same space, I find it best to put things away, wipe counters, sweep and fluff the sofa (especially at night) aka RESET so necessary and keeps my anxiety at bay.

  8. Keep the mess in one area, or clean one area. Days when things are busy, I keep one area clean: counters/kitchen table or loving room: make my bed: make a place that you can look at and feel some calmness! Ha! Or shift all the craziness to one area. Our dining room is right next to our play/craft room and our dining room, so during the week we have stuff sprawled into two rooms. And that‘s ok, it works for us but if it starts to spill into the other rooms I make sure and put things away when the day is done. It just makes it more controlled chaos.

  9. Keep it organized and keep it stocked, nothing is worse than going to do something and not having what you need. This I learned from my hubby and it is key.

I swear that these are ways I keep myself from not going bonkers, and my valuable time gets a little more balanced. I hope they help you!
